Ireland’s preeminent jazz guitarist, Tommy Halferty, leads a 10 piece ensemble in the world premiere of “Camus Jazz, Seven Steps to Albert Camus”

To bring you this world first The Tommy Halferty Ensemble engaged in a collaborative creative process. The Ensemble comprises:

  • Michael Buckley (tenor saxophone, flute)
  • Aleka Potinga (vocals)
  • Izumi Kimura (piano)
  • Dave Redmond (double bass)
  • Kevin Brady (drums)
  • Cora Venus Lunny (violin)

  • Hugo Halferty Drochon (narrator)

Tommy Halferty always brings beautiful melodies executed with exuberance and musical intensity to his concerts. A brilliant jazz guitarist from Donegal, Tommy Halferty has strong links with France through his French wife, his academic life and his many performances there. This suite inspired by his interest in Albert Camus brings a group of outstanding musicians together to interpret his concept.

This singular event takes place in Number Twenty Two, a unique and exclusive venue in the heart of Dublin City Centre, just off Grafton St..

Gerard Murphy plays JJs with the Buckley/ Ware quartet

If you are around tomorrow, Thursday 2nd May, don’t miss our next gig in JJ Smyths, Aungier St. as part of the Gallic Gaelic Entente series. Gerard Murphy, Dublin born alto sax player from Marseille is playing with the Hugh Buckley / Phil Ware Quartet. Doors: 8.30pm, music: 9.00pm. €8. Hope to see you all there!

A Tribute to Jazz Artist Noel Kelehan

Don't miss this unique tribute concert on Sunday November 25 2012 inthe National Concert Hall. With special guest performances from Ellister Van der Molen on trumpet and Laura MacDonald on saxophone accompanying the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra this promises to be a night to remember.

Universally regarded as one of Ireland's greatest jazz pianists, composers, big band leaders and arrangers, this concert plays tribute to Noel Kelehan's contribution to the jazz music scene with a specially commissioned piece by Ronan Guilfoyle for Dublin City Jazz Orchestra. Formerly known as Dublin City Big Band, founded by Ciaran Wilde and Ray Martin in 2007, the band was established to encourage students at the Bally,un Wind Project in their musical studies. They later became known as the DublinCity Jazz Orchestra for a performance at Electric Picnic in 2008.
